Abdul Qadeer Fitrat, The governor of Afghanistan's central bank, has resigned. He feels his life as danger.
He said the government to interfere for his big corruption at the privately-owned Kabul Bank.
Waheed Omar, President Hamid Karzai's spokeman, said, " Mr Fitrat's resignation amounted to treason."
He joined that Mr Fitrat was himself under investigation.
The embezzlement at Kabul Bank almost lead to its collapse last year.
Investigators say that the bank - bailed out in September - made hundreds of millions of dollars of irrational loans.
President Karzai has pledged to investigate those involved in the crisis.
"My life was entirely in danger and this was distinctly true. I spoke to the parliament and explained some people who are responsible for the crisis of Kabul Bank," he said.
Two months ago, Mr Fitrat openly named in parliament high-profile figures who were declaratory involved.
